Message Supplement (5 April 2015–Easter!)

God bless you on this wonderful morning. Welcome to the most joyous of all Christian holidays—Easter! Join in this festive occasion as we celebrate.

For Easter we emphasize life over death and hope over despair. Jesus’ triumph demonstrates how love and light crush hate and darkness. The good news is that God’s message lives fully within each of us. Jesus’ flesh and blood have since transformed in heaven yet Jesus’ principles remain alive with us. Indeed, the Christ (literally “the anointed one”) reigns supreme as a messenger of God’s salvation.

Easter reminds us that death is not the final word for human existence. Through the eternal message of life and love, we move from life to life, with death only a momentary transition. We are God’s children and, like Jesus, we will gain new life when this one is over. So, we praise a living God whose Spirit of love and truth indwells us.

God’s presence gives life to each person of faith. We live as spiritual beings in God’s Kingdom. Though our bodies come from the earth, our souls belong to God and are therefore not trapped. We may age and die in earthly terms, but God’s promise through Easter is that we will all live eternally.

What does Easter do for you?  Do you feel anything special? I hope so because there is more spiritual celebration today than for all the year’s other celebrations combined. Take this time to gain encouragement over challenging life circumstances. Realize that, no matter what happens to your body—death, disease, persecution—your soul will remain incorruptible and whole. Jesus set the standard for which all people of faith can claim God’s promises. Though you die, God lives in you and through you.

We don’t have to wait for the next life to claim these promises. Here and now we can receive, celebrate and share God’s love and truth. As God’s spiritual children, we are heirs to the same victory over death that Jesus demonstrated. Dispel fear about the world holding you captive. Nothing in this life can imprison our liberated spirits either in a literal or figurative grave. God’s love has set us free.  Now, act like it. Hallelujah!
